Notes from the FACET Regional Tourism Conference Mt Magnet

I have spent the last two days at the FACET conference talking about regional tourism opportunities, partnerships, value adding, sharing stories, interpretation & significance.

Have been motivated and encouraged by lots of stories and speakers. In particular I was impressed by Patrick Maher, the Irish Geologist/geotourism advocate and his examples of the ways that Ireland has embraced this sub-set of the tourism market and integrated this with their mining industry to leverage real benefits… Continue

How to keep inspired after the conference is over

Drowning in the post-conference miasma of un-packing, filing, paying bills and other such necessities, into my in-box pops an article entitled "Don't let conference inspiration vanish when you return to work."

How serendipitous! The universe does seem to provide when you are looking for a pick-me-up!

Well we have been overwhelmed with our conference registrations this year! So we have had to close of the registrations, so sorry if you have missed out.

There are still a few spaces left for some of the workshops, so check with the office if you would like to attend.

Only four more sleeps!

Putting the finishes touches on the State Conference

Well we are on the home straight now! Its getting frantic in the office in these last few days before the Confernce starts next week.

I am looking forward to the great range of speakers we have attracted this year, including a couple of interstaters. I'm also looking forward to meeting all of the delegates, I hope I at least get to chat to some of you.

There are still a couple of places left, but not many, so if you haven't sent in your registration form you had better get a wriggle on.

See y… Continue

yes...I have a lot more to add..I also have quite a collection of coins as well. But the china is what I am very interested in, I would love to be able to date the items and work out possible factories the pieces came from. Its a long term project, I want to use them for paintings as well as some ceramic work once I get a kiln at York.
