Join us in celebrating International Museum Day on 18 May by promoting your organisation during the week of 17-23 May.

This annual week-long celebration provides the opportunity for Western Australian museums and galleries to showcase their collections and stories to the public while taking part in the global celebration of International Museum Day.

The 2010 International Council of Museums (ICOM) theme is Museums for Social Harmony. The basis of social harmony lies in dialogue, tolerance, coexistence and development – ‘to agree but to stand out, to look for common ground but to keep the difference’.

There are many ways in which you can highlight your unique collection site:

  • Advertise the opening of a new exhibition;
  • arrange a community open day,
  • hold a book launch;
  • partner with other local organisations for a special viewing of the collection;
  • invite guest speakers to address your community

or simply put yourself on the museum map by advertising the location and visiting hours for your gallery or museum.

To see what others di during Musuem Week 2009 checkout the listing attached.  Last year we had 50 participating site - let's see if we can improve on that.
