Event Description

Kalgan to Kalumburu – the First ‘West Australians’ and Fish Traps
Presented by Dr Moya Smith, Head of Department of Anthropology
Western Australian Museum

The traces of traditional Aboriginal fishing practice can be seen around the coastline as lines of stone and include both simple lines and more complex arrangements. The Museum has worked with various Aboriginal communities to understand these tangible reminders of the traditional use of the abundant resources of both the seas and rivers.
