Truth and Beauty

Throughout history, the land and its beauty has been the subject of considerable analysis and interpretation. In Truth and Beauty, invited artists Melva Babarskas, Kieran Ingram, Malcolm Lindsay, Norma MacDonald and David Small, go beyond realistic representation of ‘the land’ to embrace their own aesthetic, spiritual and cultural understanding of landscapes.

Highlighting the unique relationship each of these artists has with the environment, Truth and Beauty stimulates reflection on our connection with the natural environment, engaging the audience to consider the possible histories or ritual uses of the land; its significance to who we are as a community; and the emotive meanings we construct through the built environment about ourselves and how we choose to act and negotiate in the immediate world around us.
