Join our panel discussion exploring the implications of museums and galleries as the drivers of cultural tourism, particularly the fate of the Perth Cultural Centre.
Join our MC Richard Offen the Executive Director of Heritage Perth together with panellists including Kate Lamont from Tourism WA and Board member of the Committee for Perth; Dr Diana Jones, Acting CEO of the Western Australian Museum, Dr Stefano Carboni, Director of the Art Gallery of WA and Veronica Jeffrey, Director Portfolio at East Perth Redevelopment Authority.
Clearly there are great opportunities for the Perth Cultural Centre, but can our institutions cope, how should we be encouraging tourism in our cultural institutions, how can museums better engage with local, national and international tourists in these times of economic downturn? What will this achieve for Perth and Western Australia?
There will be the opportunity to ask questions from the floor and to submit questions beforehand via our on-lin discussion on the site.
Following the Debate continue on to the PICA Bar where light refreshments will be served and drinks can be purchased.
Museum Week 2009 is supported by funding from the Department of Culture and the Arts, and the Heritage Council of WA
