The Mundaring District Museum has exhibits that show how the Mundaring Shire became the unique place that it is today. From the early presence of indigenous people, their successful methods of farming with the use of fire, to the European occupation. When the Europeans settled they began industry, farming, orcharding, quarrying and timber milling. These industries created the need for new methods of transport, so the eastern railway was built. Mundaring Weir an engineering marvel, was constructed in the early 1900’s, to supply water to the goldfields.
