Anzac Day at Anzac Cottage
Anzac Cottage, the house that was built in one day, will be commemorating Anzac Day with a Sunset Service to be held at approximately 5.30 (sunset) on April 25th, 2012. This is the last service conducted on mainland Australia on Anzac Day and is a friendly community based service in keeping with the cottage’s origins. All are welcome to attend.
The cottage will be open for viewing from 4.00pm prior to the service and visitors are welcome to wander through and learn about the story of this unique memorial.
This year, there will be the added attraction of a free wreath making workshop for children from 10 to 12 years of age commencing at 4.00pm conducted by florist Naomi Wilson of Crafty Presents, courtesy of the City of Vincent. The workshop is free and participants will be accepted on a first come first served basis.
Jan James, author of “Forever Warriors”, a book that reveals the considerable contribution made to our defence forces by indigenous people will also be at the cottage. Jan will have copies of her book on sale and will be available for signing copies and discussing the book on the day.
Light refreshments , tea and coffee will be available for a gold coin donation.
